As my family member said, "It's too bad that life is not like that!"
Yep, too bad.
However, we do have control over a lot of things in our lives. We make choices daily about what foods we eat, how much activity we get, how many social connections we have. We decide how to amuse ourselves, and whether or not that momentary amusement is more important than a healthy lifestyle choice...or if we can find a healthy amusement which accomplishes both.
As time passes, we all reach a point at which those choices have produced a result. Often, we find that the choices which felt good at the moment have produced a result which is NOT what we wanted to have.
I usually address this blog to those of my age (66) who are already here and having to deal with the choices of a lifetime. However, today, I hope it is read by someone who is not here yet and who still has time to make use of the "healing fluid" of youth to build his or her stash health gold.
In World of Warcraft, as I understand it, if you are injured, someone can come along and "heal" you.
Yes, in the real world, healing also occurs, but not in the magical, mystical way of WOW (World of Warcraft). There, almost any injury can be reversed, often with some universally effective object or tonic.
Not so in our world. Some things can be corrected by our "healers", but there are some things done here which cannot be undone.
This means that in our world, one of the most effective things we can do to be healthy and happy and have a long life is to make the choices in earlier years, choices sometimes temporarily unpleasant, which will produce that result at some later date.
Nobody is going to come along in these older days with a vial of "whatever" and take away the results of years of indifference and self-indulgence.
