Before I cover about the advantages and disadvantages of hypnotherapy, I will cover a bit about hypnotherapy first. Hypnotherapy is a process of undertaking a person into hypnotic trance and introducing change, it is basically applied to cure behavioral and psychological ailments.
There are many benefits associated with hypnotherapy but it is mainly applied for improving self-esteem, self-improvement, personal development and bringing positive change in life.
Relaxation is the first part of almost any hypnosis routine. Relaxation is the physical portion of those feelings of deep acceptance. As the body becomes comfortable with relaxing, the deeper aspects of the mind begin to feel more accepted.
Hypnotherapy works by tuning down the conscious part of the mind, enabling the therapist to more easily talk to the subconscious part. A good hypnotherapist can for example help change habits by talking to the subconscious mind. Once the subconscious mind is made aware of the dangers of smoking, then it will no longer drive that person to smoke.
The advantages and disadvantages of hypnotherapy:
The advantages:
- You can feel better about yourself, your successes, and your shortcomings. When you make your transformation a gradual process, you are much more likely to keep the results, and continue on the journey of personal growth.
- Can be very powerful and effective for unhealthy habits such as addictions, smoking, weight, nail-biting etc.
- Help you to cure any phobia.
The disadvantages:
- The primary disadvantage of hypnotherapy for most people is the consistency. To build the real momentum of self acceptance that frees up energy for healing and achieving goals takes time and sincere practice to cultivate. Hypnotherapy need a few sessions before you can really get the benefits.
- The second one of course the cost. It appears to be a disadvantage because most people have to pay some money. One session of hypnotherapy can cost you around $100 per session

While there are many advantages and disadvantages of hypnotherapy (if you search more at Google), but I?m quite sure you can get the advantages much more than the disadvantages. Hypnotherapy is a very effective and safe treatment for a variety of conditions that may seriously affect an individual?s quality of life.
