Stay Home & Have Fun | Top TV Stuff Household

Perhaps you are tightening up your finances due to the economy, or are saving up for that special trip or item, either way, your entertainment budget is often the first to get cut.? Even a simple night out with the family that includes dinner, movies, snacks and drinks, can leave you with empty pockets pretty quick.? No one wants to be bored, of course!? Here are some ways to ?hang out? at home, and still have fun.

Board Games?The Old Standby

photo of family playing a game togetherGather the family and friends and have a board game and card night.? It may sound clich?, but it is popular for a reason!? A little competition while showing off your knowledge or skills can be a lot of fun.? Plus, instead of being quiet and glued to a movie screen for two hours, you get the fun of laughing and talking with everyone around you.? Soda and snacks are usually appreciated, and the good news is that they will cost a fraction of what they would if you were eating out.

Monopoly and Pictionary are good games, as are newer games like Cranium and Scene It.? If all you have is a pack of cards, don?t fret, there is an endless number of games you can play.? Go Fish and Old Maid are popular with the younger set.? War and Slap Jack are popular with teens with short attention spans, and drinking card games are popular with adults.? You can also play a little poker, with candy or other treats being the chips.? If you want to play something new, there are tons of games to choose from, you can look online for inspiration and rules.

Make Use of the Back Yard!

If you have a backyard, get out there and use it!? If it is summer, set up that old kiddy pool, break out the old fashioned slip n? slide and have some fun!? You can also play a game of tag, throw the ball around, play kickball, play hide and seek.? Seriously, you are never too old to enjoy a good game of hide and seek!? A backyard scavenger hunt can also be fun, especially if the prize is something worth winning!? You can huddle around a porch fire pit (or just a big candle) and tell ghost stories when it gets dark.

There really is so much you can do at home and still have a good time.? Read a book, write a letter, practice a magic trick, bake some cookies, play dress up or give each other makeovers.? If you are still hung up on dinner and a movie, however, why not make it an event at home?? Impress the kids by making popcorn the old-fashioned way in a heated pan on the stove.? You can also cook a meal that goes along with the theme of the movie.? Watch Ratatouille and make the signature dish, pop in the Godfather for those of age and cook up something Italian. ?There really is no end to the options here.

There is so much fun you can have right at home, all you need is a little imagination!
