Salem Communications buys Metro Detroit FM translator
Salem Communications' Pennsylvania Media Associates has agreed to purchase FM translator W248AQ 97.5 Harrison Township from Martz Communications' Radio Power for $250,000 pending FCC approval and closing. This translator, which has a construction permit to move to FM 92.7 as W224CC where it would serve much of southern Macomb County from an antenna located in Roseville, was recently acquired by Martz from Radio Assist Ministry.
The sale application shows that Salem plans to use the translator to rebroadcast its news/talk WDTK AM 1400.
Martz purchased agreed purchase this particular translator for $32,000 in November, 2011 and closed on the acquisition earlier this month. Martz never used it as part of the short-lived attempt to use two other area translators to rebroadcast digital subchannels of WGPR-FM. Those two offerings (104.7 The Oasis and 94.3 The Bone) folded earlier this year and the two associated translators have remained silent.
